Wayne Rooney

From Mar 15, 2011

Top rated free Wayne Rooney Wallpaper for your computer desktop background In celebration of an achievement 25 years in the making, Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United finally became the most successful team in English league history on Saturday with a 19th title triumph that surpassed Liverpool’s record.

With only a point required at Blackburn to capture the Premier League trophy with a game to spare, Wayne Rooney salvaged a 1-1 tie with a penalty kick in the 73rd minute.

“It was a disappointing game, to be honest, but I’m not particularly bothered by that,” Ferguson said. “The important thing is being the most successful.”

Doing so would have seemed unimaginable when Ferguson took charge of United in 1986 with a vow to knock Liverpool “off their perch.”

Liverpool had just stretched its lead over United to 16-7 in titles; by 1990, it had raised the bar to 18.

But United kept its faith in Ferguson, and in 1993, he ended the club’s 26-year wait for another league crown.

Eleven more have followed since. In that time, Liverpool has failed to top the standings once.

“Hopefully, we will keep it going for a long time,” Ferguson said. “It’s a great achievement.”

MANCHESTER CITY TRIUMPHS Manchester City ended its 35-year trophy drought, winning the F.A. Cup on Yaya Toure’s second-half goal in a 1-0 victory over Stoke at Wembley. Toure struck an unstoppable shot in the 74th minute after Mario Balotelli’s deflected effort fell into his path.

Toure, a $38.9 million transfer from Barcelona last summer, also scored the winning goal against Manchester United in the semifinals. The win gave City its first trophy since the 1976 League Cup.

“In my opinion, we deserved it,” City Manager Roberto Mancini said after seeing his team dominate most of the game.

Mancini was hired in Dec. 2009, 16 months after the club was bought by the Abu Dhabi businessman Sheikh Mansour. Since the takeover, an estimated $485 million has been spent on assembling a team to challenge for Europe’s major honors. Mancini’s first success came in qualification for the Champions League, sealed four days ago.

LILLE WINS FRENCH CUP Ludovic Obraniak scored with a last-minute free kick as Lille beat holder Paris Saint-Germain, 1-0, to win the French Cup for the sixth time, ending a 56-year trophy drought and taking the first step toward a domestic double. Ahead of Sunday’s French league games, Lille was 4 points ahead of second-place Marseille with three matches remaining. Lille previously won both titles in the 1945-46 season. It won its only other league title in 1954.

Dirk Nowitzki Leads Mavericks Sweep of Two-Time Defending Champion Lakers
In the first round of the NBA playoffs this year, former NBA legend and TNT studio analyst Charles Barkley declared that Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki was the best player in the game right now, and Kobe Bryant was the sixth-best player.

At the time, this statement seemed preposterous to me.

But now, after what happened to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, getting routed 122-86 by the Mavericks and consequently swept out of the postseason, Chuck may actually have a point.

And it's not just Barkley. It's Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle and growing number of people around the league.

After the sweep Sunday, Carlisle called Nowitzki "a top 10 player in NBA history."

With his career at its peek, the above is only an overview. He is one of the most well known and respected young men of the baseball industry. Many other players look up to him and get advise but he is a shy one and just thinks he is lucky when he hits a home run or brings in several runners. That’s a small ego for a superstar like Albert Pujols.

Pujols Bio

All professional athletes say they burn to be the best. The difference with Albert Pujols? He means it. The best husband, the best father, the best community leader, the best teammate and—oh yes—the best hitter in baseball. Not that personal accolades fuel Albert. On the contrary, he practically bristles when singled out for individual attention. So while many worship “King Albert” as baseball royalty, for him the swing is the thing and the goal for this tthree-time MVP is always about winning.

Arod Bio

Alex Rodriguez nick named Arod, wallpaper on the sun was born in the USA in New York City in 1975,had two older siblings. His father, Victor, had been a baseball player back in the Dominican Republic, but was running a shoe store in Manhattan by the time the third Rodríguez child was born. In 1979, when Rodríguez was four years old, Victor retired and took his family to the Dominican Republic. The family lived there for three years, and moved back to the United States when Rodríguez was seven. They settled in Miami, Florida, but Victor, who had taught his son the basics of baseball, left the family a few years later.

With the family finances tight, Rodríguez's mother, Lourdes, had to work two jobs. By day she was a secretary at the local immigration office. At night she waited tables in a restaurant. "When Mom got home, I'd always count her tip money to see how good she did," Rodríguez recalled in an interview with People writer Alex Tresniowski. "She taught me the meaning of hard work and commitment."

Lourdes also encouraged her son's love of baseball. He played for the local Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami teams, where a coach, Eddie Rodríguez (no relation to the family), pushed him to excel and came to serve as a father-figure. At Miami's Westminster Christian High School, Rodríguez emerged as an outstanding athlete in both football and baseball. Scouts for Major League Baseball (MLB) teams came to see him play, and he became the top pick in the June draft of 1993.

Sports Wallpaper Mix Of Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose Chicago Bulls Free Desktop background wallpaper.
Derrick Rose Backgound wallpaper, was born on October 4, 1988 in Chicago, Illinois. Derrick goes by the nickname “Pooh,” which was giving to him by his grandmother based on his resemblance to Winnie-the-Pooh as an infant. Now, Derrick has a tattoo of the words “The Great Poohdini” framing an image of a wizard holding a staff in one hand and a basketball in the other.

Derrick grew up in a neighborhood called Englewood on the southwest side of Chicago. He attended Beasley Academic Center for elementary school. It was on the courts of Beasley where Derrick began to turn heads with his basketball skills that were way beyond his age. From a very young age, Derrick was shielded from trouble by a protective family who knew he had a bright future in basketball.

Derrick pictured above in this desktop background, played his high school ball at Simeon Career Academy. There, Derrick began making a name for himself throughout the Chicago area and eventually on a national level. He led Simeon to back to back championships, a feat that had never been done before by a public school team in Chicago. In his senior year, Derrick carried his team past then #1 ranked Oak Hill Academy, scoring 29 points, dishing out 9 assists, and grabbing 8 rebounds. It was Oak Hill’s sole loss on the year. For his effort against the nation’s top team, Derrick was named USA Today’s national high school player of the week. However, that was just the first of many honors Derrick would receive that year. After a senior season in which he averaged 25.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 3.4 steals, Derrick was about to get handsomely rewarded
